Letter from the Editor January 2025

Dear Readers,

We’re no strangers to change and disruption. Their origins are our constant companions: "cambire," the Latin term for bartering or exchange, and "disruptio," meaning to break apart. We don't merely weather these forces—we learn to navigate them with practice and improvisation in skills, an adaptive mindset, and sheer tenacity of will and spirit.

Yet even experienced navigators need their dependable crew. Regular challenges remind us why our professional networks matter. We’re forced to respond to significant policy shifts and data transformations that are essentially modern forms of exchange, requiring us to trade familiar frameworks for new blueprints.

In this issue, we examine disruptions that test our resilience: staff turnover in admissions and enrollment offices, the ripple effects of fall enrollment data corrections, and institutions adjusting to FVT/GE reporting requirements. Yet, alongside these disruptions, we find encouragement from those thoughtfully advancing our field. Our interviews with this year's Emerging Leader Award recipient and a pioneer in digital credentials show us how change, invention, steadfastness, and disruption are not mutually exclusive.

These stories tell us a truth we know in our bones: while upheaval may be in our forecast, our community's collective wisdom is our bedrock.

With appreciation,

Autumn Walden
