Betty Huff

Betty Huff has over 30 years of experience in enrollment management, including positions as Registrar, Director of Admissions, Director of Financial Aid, and AVP/VP Enrollment Services/Management executive level roles at both large and medium size public institutions. She has served in leadership roles in three student information systems implementations as well as a member of the selection team for a major state system SIS purchase.  Ms. Huff’s career includes positions at both urban and residential institutions. In 1990 she was selected as a member of the founding team for a new California State University system campus at San Marcos, CA where she developed an enrollment services concept and defined an enrollment management plan for the developing campus.  In addition to creating enrollment management campus-wide structures at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of Memphis, she has significant experience in recruitment strategies for highly competitive and less competitive institutions, comprehensive admissions review, student information systems management, and financial aid leveraging. 

At the national and international level, Ms. Huff has been actively engaged in the issues of access, equity, and higher education public policy and practice.  She completed terms on the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) as Vice President for Management and Leadership Development and as President of the Board of Directors.  Her international experience includes selection as a German Fulbright Administrative Scholar for Admissions and Student Services, and served as a representative for the CSU system in Japan and China reviewing campus educational partnership programs.  She has presented at national and international meetings on higher education issues in the United States on topics such as organizational development, comprehensive admissions evaluation, outcomes based funding, enrollment management structures, and student support services

Ms. Huff holds a B.A. degree in English from the University of South Alabama and an M.A. in Adult Education from the University of Georgia, where she also completed doctoral level coursework in public and higher education administration.

Dr. Christine Kerlin

During Dr. Christine Kerlin’s accomplished career, she has established herself as a nationally recognized leader and expert in the field of enrollment management within the community college system. As such, she has a wealth of knowledge and experience in strategic planning, outreach and recruitment strategies, admission and registration processes, articulation practices and inter-institutional partnerships, credential evaluation, international admission and advising, and student services. She also has authored chapters in a variety of AACRAO publications and continues to present regularly at national and regional conferences.

She was formerly the Vice President for the University Center and Strategic Planning at Everett Community College. Preceding her time at Everett Community College, Dr. Kerlin was the Director of Admissions and Records at Central Oregon Community College, as well as the Director of Admissions at The Evergreen State College. She calls on her first-hand experiences at these institutions of higher learning as an AACRAO Senior Consultant.

Dr. Reid Kisling

Director of Systems Integration, Stellic/Senior Consultant at AACRAO

Dr. Reid Kisling now works with the team at Stellic, helping institutions integrate their data systems with the platform to enable effective student interactions and streamline administrative processes. He has worked in higher education administration for the past two decades, during which time he has developed a unique expertise in the areas of technology architecture, digital transformation, business process analysis, organizational culture and change, and effective uses of information systems to drive enrollment services and growth. In his current role as a Senior Consultant for AACRAO, Dr. Kisling works to find innovative ways to increase the collaboration between student services and the academic enterprises of the institutions with which he works.

Before joining Stellic, Dr. Kisling most recently led the student development division at Western Seminary, including all aspects of student services, admissions, financial aid, records, and student affairs. In addition, he was the inaugural CIO for the institution, responsible for integration of technology across the institution and directing the expansion of the institution’s home-grown data systems. Dr. Kisling has significant experience leading change and process improvements for the institutions at which he has served. While serving as Registrar at George Fox University, Dr. Kisling restructured registrar’s office personnel to increase productivity and improve relationships across the institution. As a result, enrollment counselors increased interaction with both students and faculty as they became the primary point of contact for specific academic programs for course scheduling and planning, curricular change management, and advising services.

Dr. Kisling has authored articles on predictive analytics, strategic enrollment planning processes, student lifecycle management, and staff workload. A frequent presenter at AACRAO conferences and instructor in AACRAO’s Essentials of SEM online course, Dr. Kisling holds a Master of Theology (Th.M.) from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.

Vice President for Student Affairs, Central Oregon Community College

About
Alicia Moore is the Vice President of Student Affairs and former Dean of Student and Enrollment Services for Central Oregon Community College. In this capacity, she has worked as part of the campus leadership team, leading the institution through an 82% growth in enrollment in a four-year time span.  She has more than 20 years of experience in student services, with primary experience in admissions and records related areas, including marketing and advertising, publication design/writing, recruiting and one-stop program/service development.  In her role as the Director of Admissions/Registrar for COCC, collaborative efforts the campus achieved a record 12% enrollment growth in just two years. 

During her tenure at COCC, Alicia’s accomplishments include development of comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan; a one-stop service center, including admissions, registration, student account/bursar, financial aid, placement testing, and academic advising; and a redesign of college transition programs to include a mandatory pre-advising workshop for all students, a new student orientation program, and an “Academic Jump Start” program. Alicia also played a primary role in designing COCC’s new Campus Center and 320-bed residence hall, developing partnerships with various high school and university partners, and serving as part of the institution’s accreditation team.  In addition to the above areas, Alicia’s consulting work includes helping institutions develop strategic plans, to include vision, mission, values and goals, as well as student success plans focused on student persistence and completion strategies.

Alicia earned her PhD in Education Oregon State University, has her master's degree in student personnel administration from Colorado State University, and a bachelor's degree in communications and Spanish from Willamette University.

Brad Myers

Senior Consultant at AACRAO

Brad Myers retired from The Ohio State University near the end of 2016, where he served for nearly 20 years as the University Registrar.  He is a broadly experienced higher education professional with over thirty-five years of leadership experience in student records/registration, financial aid, orientation, college office management, student advising and developing a consolidated service center.  His responsibilities included leadership roles related to student systems, semester conversion, data services, transfer credit, space management and general student services for students.  Brad’s experience includes leadership in a large organizational setting with an emphasis on organizational and change management, fiscal management and personnel management.  He is very team-oriented with excellent communication skills, high energy, and a strong, holistic commitment to both service, students and the broader higher education community.

Some examples of specific projects with key roles at Ohio State:

• Conversion of the university calendar from quarters to semesters (2009-2013).
• Design and construction of a new Student Academic Services building (2007-2010).
• Interim Director, Student Financial Aid (2008-2009).
• Implementation of a Consolidated Services Center (“one stop”), (2007-2009).
• Implementation of PeopleSoft/Oracle Student Information System (2005-2009).

Brad has also been very involved at a state and national professional level, having served as president of AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) and OACRAO (Ohio Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers).  He has served as an instructor for professional development courses with AACRAO, both in-person and online, and has been an author and member of the editorial board for three AACRAO FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) Guides.

Brad did all of his academic work at Ohio State: BS in Psychology, JD, and worked on a PhD in Higher Education Administration.

Dr. Rodney Parks

Registrar, Director of Summer College, Assistant Vice President at Elon University

Dr. Parks is the University Registrar, Director of Elon’s Summer College and Assistant Vice President at Elon University where he has served since 2013. Dr. Parks also serves as an Assistant Professor of Health and Wellness, teaching two to three courses per year, including a core capstone. Parks earned his Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from the University of Georgia.
 
Since joining Elon, Dr. Parks has been a prolific author, publishing more than 80 articles and book chapters. Some of his work appears in current AACRAO book publications including: Helping Veterans Succeed: A Resource for Higher Education Administrators, Academic record Transcript Guide, The Displaced Student, Mentorship in Higher Education: Practical Advice and Leadership Theories and College Admissions: Recruiting and Retaining a Diverse Student Body. Dr. Parks is also well known in higher education for his work to expand the academic record. In 2015, he led Elon’s initiative to turn Elon’s co-curricular transcript into visual infographics, better illustrating a picture of the comprehensive 4-year student experience. As a result of his early work to expand student records, Elon was part of the AACRAO/NASPA grant sponsored by the Lumina Foundation.
 
As the director or Elon’s Summer College, Dr. Parks has used data driven marketing strategies to increase Elon’s summer revenue from 1.8 million to over 6.2 million in the last five years. This accomplishment is particular noteworthy, given decreases in summer revenue nationally. Course efficiencies during Elon Summer College routinely hit the 90th percentile.

Angé Peterson

Angé Peterson is a former Associate Vice President at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Regional Campuses. In this role, she supervised transfer enrollment services, marketing and partnership outreach for the 10 regional campuses and locations in the central Florida region. Additionally, Angé had responsibility for partnerships internal to UCF administration relating to admission, financial assistance, registrar’s functions, transfer transitions plus marketing; and externally she provided leadership in partnering with community and state colleges serving the central Florida region. Under the Central Florida Higher Education Consortium, her responsibilities included guaranteed admission for academically qualified transfer students seeking a Baccalaureate degree through participation in the DirectConnect to UCF program. The umbrella of the consortium agreement continues to provide solutions that impact access, diversity and student success pathways leading toward degree completion.  This umbrella included working groups in curriculum alignment, data and internal research solutions, resource development, work force initiatives, joint advising and assisted in developing one of the most productive 2+2 programs in the nation. She has consulted within the field of higher education colleges and universities for ten years and currently is an AACRAO senior consultant. 

Angé has been involved in AACRAO leadership for most of her higher education professional life, first as chair of the Admission and Enrollment Management committee, Vice President for Admission and Enrollment Management followed by selection as AACRAO’s President-elect, President and Past President from 2005 – 2007.  She has actively participated in the SEM conference for 25 years and prioritized the development of the AACRAO Transfer Conference as a presidential goal.  Prior to joining UCF, Angé was at Pittsburg State University. She has presented at a many national conferences including AACRAO, SEM, AACRAO Transfer, First Year Experience, NACADA, GPACAC, NAFSA, ACT EM, KACRAO, Transfer Institute, Noel-Levitz Retention, STEMtech (League for Innovation), Excelecia in Education, plus numerous state and regional EM workshops. She is one of the authors of the “Practical Guide for Strategic Enrollment Management Planning”, EDI, Nov. 2007. Ange’s latest publication is posted online, “Student Access and Completion: A Regional Strategic Enrollment Partnership” Jan. 2014.

Michele Sandlin previously served as the Director of Admissions and the Campus Visitors Center at Oregon State University for 15 years, during which university enrollment grew by over 67%, while achieving additional goals for diversity and academic preparedness of incoming students. Ms. Sandlin’s career has also included successful tenures at Pacific University, Portland State University, the University of Oregon, and Western State Colorado University. 

During her 42 years as a higher education professional, Ms. Sandlin has become well known for her industry-leading expertise in holistic admissions, Strategic Enrollment Management, admissions operations, staff and space management, 2yr/4yr campus partnerships, branch campus development, transfer policy and practices, accreditation compliance review, articulation process, policy and agreements, decentralized-centralized structural realignment, and graduate/professional school and international admissions. She has served in state, regional and national leadership positions with AACRAO and with the International Baccalaureate Program, having served as the IB Chair for the Americas College and University Recognition Board. 
 

She has served in state, regional and national leadership positions with AACRAO/PACRAO/OrACRAO and with the International Baccalaureate Program, and has received numerous professional recognitions, most notable:

• Received the first AACRAO National Tom Bilger Citation for Service Award. 2006.

Ms. Sandlin completed her Master of Science degree in Higher Education Policy Foundations and Administration at Portland State University, Oregon and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Sciences from Colorado State University.  She is a native of the Colorado Rockies, but she identifies as an Oregonian and calls Oregon home where she has lived since 1985.

About
Dr. Clayton Smith is Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. He previously served 12 years as Vice-Provost and Dean of Students. Over the course of his career, Dr. Smith has amassed significant knowledge and expertise in enrollment management. Dr. Smith previously held senior enrollment management positions at the State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill, Tallahassee Community College in Florida, and the University of Maine at Augusta.

Known for his focus on comparative enrollment management, Dr. Smith has performed collaborative research into the distinctive qualities of enrollment management in the United States and Canada that has allowed educational leaders from both countries to compare and share best practices. In 2011, Dr. Smith co-edited SEM in Canada: Promoting Student and Institutional Success in Canadian Colleges and Universities. His recent research focuses on the faculty role in SEM, how change management impacts successful SEM institutional implementation, and Canadian enrollment leaders’ reflections on the effectiveness of SEM in Canada.

Dr. Smith is a leader in the field of enrollment management, with special emphasis on the areas of institutional SEM readiness, implementing SEM, enrollment planning, change management, international student affairs, and student success and retention. He has worked at a variety of higher education institutions, including residential and commuter, rural and urban, and two-year and four-year schools, and has consulted for AACRAO Consulting at more than thirty colleges and universities.

Dr. Smith holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine, an M.A. in Political Science from Drew University, an M.P.A. in Public Administration from the University of Maine, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education from Florida State University. He is a senior consultant with AACRAO Consulting and currently serves as AACRAO’s Strategic Enrollment Management Conference director and Editor-in-Chief of Strategic Enrollment Management Quarterly.

Cassandra Moore

Bio:

Cassandra Moore is the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Development at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. She has worked at every level of college admissions, but her passion for first-generation college students led her to community colleges.  She has been an active member of AACRAO, and currently serves on its Board of Directors as the Vice President of Access and Equity.

Understanding that lack of opportunity and access is a social justice issue, she has focused her efforts on improving access, equity and inclusion in higher education and in her community. She is a member of Anne Arundel Women Giving Together, a women’s giving circle that awards grants up to $20,000 to non-profits who improve the lives of women, children and families. She has served on the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families Disconnected Youth Workgroup, focused on 16-24 years old residents, who are not connected to school, family or work. Cassandra also serves on two Signature Program Integrated Community Stakeholder Teams (ICST) with business and political leaders focused on providing co-curricular workforce opportunities to high school students. She has served as a scholarship application reviewer for the Gates Millennium Scholars Foundation, and the United Negro College Fund STEM Scholars program. Her commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion has been recognized by her college and community. 

She is the recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Zeitgeist Award, Diversity Champion Award,  YWCA Tribute to Women of Color Service to Youth Award, Minority Access, Inc. Role Model for Recruitment Award, and the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Education in Excellence Award.  Previous experience includes the University of Maryland School of Nursing, Central Michigan University, and the Community College of Baltimore College. She is a proud wife, mother, and daughter of educators.

Karin Fischer

Karin Fischer is a journalist who focuses on higher education and a research associate at the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California at Berkeley. She focuses on international education, including American colleges’ activities overseas, the globalization of the college experience, and study abroad. Her extensive reporting on international-student recruitment and the experience of foreign students in the United States has been collected in a special publication, Chinese Journey: Student Migrations, Family Dreams and What Happens Next. She also writes about U.S. higher education policy and the relationship between colleges and the economy. Her work has appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, EdSource, the Washington Monthly, and University World News. She publishes a weekly newsletter on global education, latitude(s).

Ms. Fischer is a recipient of the East-West Center’s Jefferson Fellowship for reporting in Asia and the International Reporting Project fellowship. Her work has been honored by the Education Writers Association, the National Press Foundation, and the Poynter Institute. She is a graduate of Smith College, in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Annabel Lawday is currently an International Portfolio Manager for International BTEC Education at Pearson. Annabel works within the team to support product development, as well as supporting our regional Pearson teams globally. The primary focus is the ongoing support to enhance and expand the BTEC international qualifications coverage, through partnerships and opportunities within employers, governments and educational centres in over 65 countries.

Prior to this role at Pearson, Annabel worked within financial services and accountancy education, optimizing client relationships and managing a team to oversee education programmes run in the UK and Europe. Annabel’s career in education begun a number of years ago in digital education companies in international teams, in roles including key account management and client focused roles.

 Before joining Pearson, Basirat developed and enhanced international partnerships and scholarship activity within transnational education (TNE), student and staff exchange, research and work abroad and international student recruitment programmes at the University of Greenwich and King's College London.

 Basirat holds an MA in Education and International Development from University College London (UCL) and is a Regional Assessor for the Chevening UK Master’s Scholarship scheme. She is an active Inclusion, Access and Success committee member of the International Association for College Admission Counseling (International ACAC).

Wade Tomlinson is currently the Stakeholder Manager for higher education institutions and ministries at Pearson Higher Education Qualifications (HEQ) division. Prior to his current role at Pearson, Wade worked with UniQuest, an organisation that works in partnership with Higher Education institutions, optimizing student recruitment and conversion in the UK and US.

Wade started his career in education in 2012 as President of Roehampton Students’ Union. Since then he has worked in Public and Private Higher Education Institutions across multiple roles, including partnership management, outreach, international enrolment & admissions.

Michael V. Reilly

Executive Director

Mike Reilly served as the Executive Director of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) 2012 - 2021.

Prior to coming to AACRAO he served as the Executive Director for the Council of Presidents, an association of the six public baccalaureate degree granting institutions in the state of Washington.  He has 25 years of experience in university administration, admissions and enrollment management, including having been the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at both Central Washington University and Humboldt State University.  He recently served on the American Council on Education Board of Directors and is currently on the American Council on Education’s Commission on Education Attainment and Innovation and the College Board’s Access and Diversity Collaborative Advisory Council.  He is a frequent writer and speaker on public policy matters impacting higher education.

David L. Roy

Director, Academic Relations, Competitive Admissions, & Access and Diversity

David L. Roy serves as the Director for Academic Relations, Competitive Admissions, and Access and Diversity in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University. In this role, he is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the application review process for domestic and international new first year applicants for Ohio State University’s Columbus campus. He also provides senior leadership for the strategic partnership between Undergraduate Admissions and Ohio State’s academic colleges. In addition, David direct efforts to increase the recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented minorities, first-generation and low-income students as well the training and development of Admissions staff specific to access and diversity best-practices.   

Prior to his current role, he served as Director for the Diversity Services Office in the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio State.  In that role, he directed recruitment, orientation and advising activities for minority students as well as initiatives designed to assist with minority student retention and graduation.  

David has twenty years of higher education experience in enrollment management, diversity, advising, recruitment and retention. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences and Sociology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, a master’s degree in African American and African Studies from The Ohio State University. He is an alum of The College Board’s Enrollment Leadership Academy.

Kristi Wold-McCormick

Assistant Vice Provost & University Registrar, University of Colorado Boulder

Kristi Wold-McCormick currently serves as Assistant Vice Provost and University Registrar of the University of Colorado Boulder. In her leadership role, she focuses on student data privacy, business process improvement, academic policy, inclusion initiatives, and academic record and enrollment innovation.

Kristi served as Vice President for Records and Academic Services. She has also served on both the Program and Nominations & Elections committees, and recently chaired an AACRAO committee that developed guidance on disciplinary transcript notations.

Prior to joining CU Boulder, Kristi was registrar of North Dakota State University. She also has held various positions in admissions and enrollment management. Kristi earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NDSU and a Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota.

Lee H. Melvin

Vice Provost for Enrollment Management

Lee H. Melvin is the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He is responsible for leading, developing, articulating and implementing an enrollment management strategy, with the primary vision of maintaining academic momentum and moving UB to higher levels of institutional distinction. Melvin oversees the offices of financial aid, admissions, registrar, marketing and communications and 1Capen Student Services Center.
