Why Russ joined the LGBTQIA+ Caucus: College students appreciate knowing that institutions of higher learning and university leaders welcome all. We must work to provide an inviting, comforting, and nurturing home where students may be themselves, find their purpose, and further advance our society by working together. The importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion are subjects that young people need to understand so they can be part of the solution by combating prejudice. I believe our campuses should lead the way for increased understanding of one another as injustice must be addressed.
