April 2024 seems like a long way away, but the Program Committee is already hard at work preparing for our Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio. Whether you are a seasoned presenter or just thinking about presenting for the first time, we want to hear your session ideas. Below are some tips to keep in mind as you develop your ideas for sessions:
As a higher education professional, you have a lot of innate expertise that you have developed in your daily practice. Think about “hot topics” that interest you in your work and that might be of interest to other Annual Meeting attendees. As you flesh out session ideas on pertinent issues, consider drawing on material from presentations you have attended and/or articles that you have read in AACRAO publications or other higher education-related publications.
Think about presenting with one or more colleagues. In many cases, the presentation of topics that interest members can be enriched by having multiple perspectives.
We have several session types available for you to use, and in planning your session, we recommend that you not limit yourself by format. You can certainly plan a traditional breakout session, which consists of you presenting solo in front of an audience, but we have opportunities for you to lead more discussion-focused sessions as well. In addition, we have limited slots available for live stream and pre-recorded sessions.
The Program Committee is here to help you! While we cannot accept every session proposal, we are more than happy to hear your ideas before you make formal session proposals and to connect with other colleagues whose interests are similar to your own.
Please remember that the deadline to submit session proposals is September 15, 2023. We look forward to reading your proposals and seeing you in Columbus.
