AACRAO is proud to announce Jack Miner, a dynamic, proven
leader in Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM), has been selected to guide the SEM Conference as its director. The AACRAO SEM Conference remains the premier enrollment
management conference for higher ed professionals. Jack brings with him a wealth of experience and has demonstrated in-depth knowledge and practical understanding through his long-time service in the field.
Jack Miner currently serves as the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management for the University of Cincinnati. He joined UC in January of 2020 following nearly 30 years with The Ohio State University including serving as University Registrar and Executive
Director of Enrollment Services. Previously, Jack served as AACRAO President, Vice President of Finance and Investments, and Program Chair.
Tina DeNeen, AACRAO Associate Executive Director,
spoke on Mr. Miner's selection saying:
We are so fortunate to have Jack joining AACRAO in this capacity. He is actively engaged in a SEM executive leadership role at the University of Cincinnati, and that experience--coupled with his work with and knowledge of AACRAO--will be an excellent combination as we continue to expand the world's preeminent strategic enrollment management conference.
In his long history with AACRAO, Jack has attended the AACRAO SEM Conference for more than ten years and attended the AACRAO Annual Meeting for
more than twenty years. In addition to his attendance, Jack has been a regular presenter, and speaker, at the SEM Conference, the AACRAO Annual Meeting, and various Technology & Transfer meetings. When asked why he chose to pursue the role of SEM Conference director Mr. Miner said:
You will hear me talk a lot about growing the future leaders in SEM and providing an opportunity for existing and emerging leaders in SEM to come together and move higher education forward. However, at the heart of my “why” is creating more opportunities for people to go to college. I was the first in my family to go to college and am living proof of the opportunities. Too often, we think of SEM about our specific university and our growth…I want to think about how the strategic portion is also about creating access and removing barriers to success for students.
I am particularly proud to serve in the SEM Director role because I not only “grew up” within the AACRAO family but took a non-traditional route to become a chief enrollment manager. There are very few of us in the role that took the registrar path versus the marketing, admissions, or recruitment path. I think the future of the profession is showing the value of how we all play a role in enrollment management.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Miner is a passionate patron of the arts and serves on the Board of Directors, and as fundraising chair, for the Cincinnati Ballet. He also serves as Board President for the McConnel Arts Center. AACRAO is excited
about Jack's transition to the role of SEM Conference Director, and will officially welcome him into the position at this year's 2022 SEM Conference taking place in Toronto, Ontario.
