As part of changes to AACRAO’s governing structure, a new board position, the Vice President at Large, was added in 2013. The Vice President at Large will perform many duties as an active member of the Board of Directors, including advancing the association’s strategic plan, providing service for various committees, and undertaking special projects as assigned. Additionally, the VP at Large will work to coordinate communication between the Board and the membership, monitor the governance and association practices of the Board, and provide leadership in efficiency initiatives.
Like all Board members, the VP at Large has the responsibility to act with care and loyalty to the Association as he or she performs the duties of the office, which will likely evolve over time as the responsibilities of the position become established. The Vice President at Large is not aligned with any particular or specific portfolio of experience. Due to the broad nature of the position, individuals with outstanding demonstrated service and leadership in any area of the Association will be considered for the position.
