Beginning on Oct. 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017–18 school year. (In the past, they had to wait until January 1). In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA is available. Students also will have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

Supporting Women Leaders in Academic Medicine

March 4, 2025

March 4, 2025 | 3:00-4:00 pm ET
Over the past decade, the overall representation of women in academic medicine has made large improvements. However, women still only represent 29% of full professors, 27% of deans, and 25% of department chairs (AAMC 2023-2024). What work can be done to continue narrowing gender-based representational gaps in academic medicine?

This presentation will explore the state of women in academic medicine, the role of implicit bias in perpetuating representational gaps, and strategies to support women leaders. It will draw from Dr. Maldonado’s experiences as a faculty member and Senior Associate Dean, citing case studies and strategic interventions that have improved faculty retention, community building, and leadership development at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
