Beginning on Oct. 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017–18 school year. (In the past, they had to wait until January 1). In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA is available. Students also will have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

What Does Equity Mean in Data Collection and Reporting?

June 9, 2022

Free Webinar | 2:00-3:00 pm ET

The National Student Clearinghouse has decades of experience working with data to generate knowledge that is beneficial to colleges and universities and the education community. We recognize that working with data involves making many decisions. Understanding the equity implications of decisions made during data collection and reporting is important because it enables the use of data in meaningful and actionable ways and does not ever lead to further inequitable outcomes for any group of individuals. This webinar will discuss what equity in data collection and reporting means to the Clearinghouse and how we plan to implement equity principles in every step of data collection, reporting, and use. The webinar will also highlight recommendations that colleges and universities may consider in their relevant work.
