The 2017–18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) season will begin earlier than previous FAFSA application cycles

Beginning on Oct. 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017–18 school year. (In the past, they had to wait until January 1). In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA is available. Students also will have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

Presenter: Staci Bernhard, Senior Manager for Admissions, Recruitment, and Financial Aid, Florida International University

 

StaciStaci Bernhard currently serves as the Senior Manager for Admissions, Recruitment, and Financial Aid at Florida International University’s Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Graduate School of Business. She has over a decade of experience in all areas of the student pipeline from prospect to enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Staci earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Education, and subsequently earned a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration with a focus in Counseling, both from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. As a Miami native, she considers Florida International University her home.

In her current role, Staci focuses on Agent Management, domestic and international credential evaluation for graduate level programs, and the admission process for a variety of programs within FIU’s Chapman Graduate School of Business. Due to her work with Agent Management, and the location of her home institution, the bulk of her credential evaluations are from India, China, Saudi Arabia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
