The EducationUSA Program, administered by the U.S. Department of State, has extended an invitation to colleges and universities across the United States to host EducationUSA advisers on their campuses during the upcoming summer semester. This unique opportunity aligns with the EducationUSA Forum, set to take place from July 30 to August 1, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

What is EducationUSA?

EducationUSA, a global network comprising over 430 international student advising centers situated in more than 175 countries, plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive information and guidance to students aspiring to pursue education at accredited U.S. institutions. Moreover, the program extends its support services to American educational institutions seeking to enhance their international student recruitment efforts and foster campus internationalization.

The significance of these campus visits lies in empowering advisers with firsthand knowledge of U.S. colleges and universities. This experiential insight enables them to articulate the nuances of life on a U.S. campus more effectively, using real-life examples. The success of the EducationUSA network is intricately tied to advisers' access to current information and skill-based training, making these visits integral to the program's effectiveness.

Benefits

For institutions hosting an EducationUSA adviser, there are many benefits, including the acquisition of valuable market intelligence and the formulation of cost-effective recruitment strategies tailored to specific needs. Advisers play a crucial role in aiding the development of international student recruitment plans, promoting schools on local EducationUSA social media platforms, and conducting webinars with prospective students in their home countries. Beyond recruitment, these campus visits serve as a platform for U.S. institutions to elevate their international profile, showcasing specific programs and services designed to cater to the needs of international students.

Getting Started

The deadline for applications to host EducationUSA advisers for pre- and post-conference campus visits this summer is fast approaching on February 5, 2024. Institutions keen on participating in this enriching opportunity are encouraged to reach out to Susana Guzman at GuzmanS1@state.gov. This initiative stands as an opportunity for U.S. institutions to forge meaningful connections with motivated students from diverse corners of the globe. Further details on hosting an adviser can be found here. Seize this chance to enhance your institution's global outreach and engage with a dynamic international student community.
