By Seth Marc Kamen, AACRAO Tech & Transfer Summit Co-Lead
This year’s AACRAO Technology & Transfer Summit is about Finding Creativity in people, technology, transfer, student success, mission and goals, and more. Throughout the event, we will focus on True Colors, a self-assessment quiz that identifies
your temperament and, subsequently, your strengths and weaknesses.
We aim to link these temperaments to your work and personal life, identifying how to manage better teams and relationships, projects and initiatives, and your own general sense of happiness. How can these colors drive your creativity, leadership, and
success? You’ll be shocked at how clear the solution becomes when you better understand yourself and those around you.
In the upcoming weeks, summit attendees will be invited to take the True Colors self-assessment via the Whova App. As a sneak peek, here are the descriptions of the four temperaments:
Orange: Adventurous (charming, witty, and spontaneous, and like to entertain others with a hunger for excitement and light-heartedness).
Green: Curious but Analytical (logical, rational, objective, knowledgeable, and self-controlled).
Blue: Harmonious and Relational (compassionate, romantic, empathetic, and nurturing; they see the best in others and like to please people).
Gold: Responsible (steadfast, loyal, traditional, rule follower or rule maker, parental, orderly, structured, punctual, and precise).
And, because the theme is creativity, we wanted to get creative on how we are applying True Colors throughout the summit:
Our pre-summit meet and greet will allow attendees to explore the colors and socialize with others in their color temperament. Come find out why you love some people and can’t stand others.
Our final keynote speaker, Ms. Susan Luchey (sorry, not that one), will summarize True Colors in a discussion about applying design thinking and innovation. Her goal is to help attendees get unstuck from the everyday, and she will challenge
us to think outside the box, embrace change, and take risks.
Attendees can proudly display their true color by selecting a matching zoom background.
Our networking event will be a Mixology class, teaching us how to make - you guessed it - orange, blue, gold, and green drinks.
We’ll share fun anecdotes about color throughout the event; see if you can find the clues.
If you are presenting at the summit and have an idea about integrating True Colors into your presentation, please feel free to contact Seth Kamen to discuss ideas.
Registration is still open for the event.
