Federal Watchdog Sues 'Financial Support' Company, Alleging Student Aid Scam

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has filed suit against Global Financial Support Inc., alleging it made millions of dollars by charging students and parents sham fees for nonexistent financial aid services. The company, which uses the names Student Financial Resource Center and College Financial Advisory, also falsely claimed it was affiliated with the federal government, according to the bureau.

In the lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, the bureau seeks a cessation of illegal activities by the company.
