Last week, the U.S. Education Department released updated guidance on enrollment reporting in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
In July, the agency hosted a series of joint webinars with AACRAO and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) related to the implementation of the 150% time limit for a student to receive Direct Subsidized Loans. Following the webinars, the associations continued discussions with the agency to discuss concerns about consequences for institutions in complying with the reporting requirements, particularly surrounding multiple majors and, multiple degrees (at the undergraduate and at differing academic levels).
The new guidance issued by the department outlines a set of revisions to the requirements that reduce reporting complexity for institutions while maintaining compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory provisions.
