Prison Education Program Work Group

This collaborative effort, in partnership with the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), aims to enhance postsecondary education opportunities for incarcerated individuals and advance best practices for prison education programs across the country.

This is a unique opportunity for AACRAO members to directly shape the future of prison education. As a member of this work group, you'll collaborate with fellow professionals to develop valuable resources, policies, and practices that will improve education access and success for incarcerated learners.

Project Goals:

  •     Review and refine existing resources for prison education administration.
  •     Establish clear guidelines for FERPA compliance and data privacy in correctional settings.
  •     Develop a comprehensive toolkit for institutional support.
  •     Create standardized data collection and reporting practices.
  •     Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among institutions involved in prison education.
  •     Produce training materials and technical assistance resources.
  •     Build a thriving community of practice for professionals in the field.
