In today’s higher education landscape, Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) expertise is a must for your campus. Reaching your enrollment goals extends beyond merely increasing the number of enrolled students. In the SEM planning process it is important to determine your institution’s optimum enrollment, based on your mission and strategic plan. Utilizing the right data can enable your institution to meet the varied needs of students across multiple demographics and more effectively work toward specific enrollment goals for both current and prospective students.
Conducting an environmental scan assists an institution in gathering and analyzing data from sources such as demographic, economic, competition and market opportunities. At the SEM Conference in Los Angeles, AACRAO Consultants Drs. Christine Kerlin and Tom Green will present I Can See for Miles and Miles: The Value of Environmental Scanning. Using their experience at the 4-year and 2-year institution levels, the presenters plan to engage participants in a discussion of the purposes of environmental scanning, various models and strategies for conducting an effective scan, sources of data and information, and how to use the findings of the scan for strategic enrollment planning and subsequent assessment.
