SEM planning for student and institutional success

On many campuses, Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) has become integral to enhancing student success.  SEM provides a paradigm for cutting through the clutter of competing priorities to focus on what will best serve student needs and support their educational attainment. In the wake of economic shifts, demographic changes, and the call for increased accountability and transparency, colleges and universities are finding that effective SEM planning can help achieve institutional goals as well.

Cabinet-level administrators— including college and university chancellors, presidents, board members, provosts, chief enrollment management officers and their team members —are invited to further explore “Balancing Student and Institutional Success” at AACRAO’s 9th Annual Executive Symposium.  Sponsored by Hobsons and held in conjunction with AACRAO’s 24th Annual Strategic Enrollment Management Conference, the Symposium will take place at the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles LA Live on Sunday, October 26, with a reception for registrants on Saturday, October 25.  Registration is open and hotel reservations are being accepted. View the Registration Brochure for information on sessions, workshops, presenters and more.

The presentations and discussion will be led by SEM experts Bob Bontrager, Senior Director, AACRAO Consulting & SEM Initiatives; Susan Gottheil, Vice-Provost (Students), University of Manitoba; and William Serrata, President, El Paso Community College. The one-day symposium will feature sessions on:

  • SEM Core Concepts:  A comprehensive overview for new SEM professionals and a refresher for SEM veterans.
  • SEM and Student Success: A discussion of the shift in focus from recruitment to retention.
  • Creating Effective SEM Organizations: A case study of how to develop plans to implement SEM.
  • Moving Forward with SEM Planning: How to put the day’s discussions all together.

Please note registration cap: Attendance is limited to the first 50 registered executives. Last year's Symposium reached full capacity weeks before the SEM Conference. If they have not already registered, please forward this information to your senior-level colleagues.
