The AACRAO Strategic Plan has set an association goal to be the premier provider of accessible and credentialed career pathways to demonstrate competencies in the professions engaged in enrollment and academic services. The Education and Member Development (EMD) team at the national office, led by Dr. Tina DeNeen, has already begun this work. Over the past two years, we have added numerous new learning opportunities for our members and there is much more to come. Curriculum for many of our professional areas has evolved organically from within our membership. To meet the new goals and the needs of our members, it has become necessary to consider a more permanent model to support the association in the maintenance of curricular content and quality standards.
The Board of Directors has recently approved the formation of an AACRAO Curriculum Committee to meet this need. It is envisioned that the Curriculum Committee will work collaboratively with the EMD staff as they work to meet the demand for a curriculum that is flexible and responsive to the needs of our professions, yet standardized in quality, delivery, and outcomes. The new committee will advise on AACRAO curricular gaps and support the recruitment of qualified subject matter experts for new curriculum development or delivery of the current curriculum. They will develop a review and feedback process for the AACRAO core competencies and professional proficiencies to ensure that they are current and relevant to the AACRAO professions, and consider models of course content review across the curricular areas.
The new committee will be chaired by the AACRAO Director of Content & Curriculum. It will be comprised of a total of 12 members from each of AACRAO’s five professional areas:
To form the inaugural committee, AACRAO is seeking individuals with a minimum of three years of experience in one of the five AACRAO professional areas. Extra consideration will be given to those with leadership, presentation development, and delivery, or instruction experience. Committee members will serve three-year appointments, renewable.
Applications will be competitive; appointments will be based on knowledge, experience, and appropriate representation of professional areas. The committee will strive to be representative of the geographic and institutional size and type that makes up our membership, of the five AACRAO professional areas, and the diverse individual identities of our institutional roster members.
Interested members should apply by May 20, 2024.
