Chinatown, San FranciscoThe interest in the 99th AACRAO Annual Meeting—April 14-17, 2013—is soaring!

Maybe it’s the unique, forward-looking conference content; the opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones; or the excitement of visiting “Everybody’s Favorite City,” San Francisco (more below)—or a combination of all three—that’s creating such intense anticipation for the conference. To meet that demand, AACRAO has secured another hotel for attendees.

New hotel information

The Westin San Francisco Market Street is an oasis of sophistication in the heart of the South of Market district. It offers breathtaking views in a vibrant downtown setting. There is a limited block of rooms and availability cannot be guaranteed, so make your reservation soon!

Explore the city: 3 places to start

In addition to the robust meeting agenda, attendees will experience a city like no other. These three ideas can get you started—but the possibilities are endless.

First, you must see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge—“possibly the most beautiful, and certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world,” according to Frommer’s travel guide.

Second, don’t miss Chinatown—the largest Chinatown outside of Asia as well as the oldest Chinatown in North America. Try the chop suey and treat yourself to a fortune cookie—both invented in San Francisco.

Third, sip some java at the historic Caffe Trieste on Vallejo Street—the first coffee shop to open in San Francisco (in the 1950s). The Caffe was a meeting place for Beat movement writers such as Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, and Francis Ford Coppola wrote much of the screenplay of The Godfather here.

You’ll find many more amazing places to explore in San Francisco, and we hope you find time to do so during the Annual Meeting.
