Although conferences, webinars, publications and listservs are excellent ways to deepen and broaden professional knowledge, none offer a live, behind-the-scenes look at how other schools operate. That’s why AACRAO is taking the next step in collaborative knowledge-sharing and experiential professional development by including institutional tours as part of the elective programming at upcoming conferences.
A campus visit at the University of Phoenix (read the article) during the 2016 Annual Meeting yielded positive member feedback--and many attendees expressed interest in future institutional tours at schools located near the sites of future AACRAO meetings.
“Hosting the AACRAO Annual Meeting Tour at the University of Phoenix was an excellent opportunity for our institution to spotlight some best practices in the Office of Admissions and Records. The participants seemed to really enjoy interacting with our leaders and staff and hopefully took away a few ideas as well,” said Monterey Sims, Director Admissions and Evaluation.
“Our team really enjoyed putting our tour together," she added. "It took some planning, coordination and practice. The reward was a great sense of teamwork and accomplishment.”
AACRAO is now accepting proposals for Campus Tours/Visits for the 2017 AACRAO Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, April 2-5, 2017. We would like to have several tours scheduled over the four days of the Annual Meeting, showcasing a variety of local institutions. The institution will be responsible for associated expenses including transportation, food, and staff.
