A growing emphasis on student success and outcomes has many implications, especially as institutions attempt to recruit and retain diverse, knowledgeable, and mobile populations. For many institutions, creating a transfer-friendly environment is a key strategy as students continue to transfer at higher rates. In addition, the use of technology is integral to enrollment strategy, and the activities of the registrar, admissions, orientation, and retention staff are often the critical difference between institutional success and failure.  With this in mind, we invite you to join the ongoing conversation at AACRAO’s Technology & Transfer Conference in New Orleans.

One Meeting Focusing on Two Topics

While each program is the perfect size for networking, we also offer shared plenaries, a combined exhibitor space, and a joint reception, so it’s like attending a larger meeting.  As an attendee, you have the option of attending transfer- or technology-related sessions—and also a combination of both.

Innovation, Student Success, Visual Communication, and More

Some highlights of this year’s programming include:

  • Emerging technologies and solutions: AACRAO is introducing its Innovation Hub. Sessions in this track will focus on four key areas: Blockchain, Data Visualization, Data Integration, and Chatbot.

  • Achievement: Dr. Darla M. Cooper, Director of Research and Evaluation for the Research and Planning Group for the California Community Colleges (RP Group), will discuss the Student Support (Re)defined research project, which asked nearly 900 students from 13 California community colleges what they think supports their educational success.

  • Communicating through visuals: A self-described “dataviz geek” and award-winning writer and editor, Scott Berinato of the Harvard Business Review will show attendees how to turn ordinary, prosaic charts that show data into great visuals that communicate ideas.
