Are you interested in sharing your knowledge of doing the work of the Registrar with both new and seasoned professionals? If so, please consider applying to become a faculty member for either Registrar 101 or Registrar 201 workshops.
What does it mean to be a faculty member?
First, you and the other faculty members will be responsible for maintaining and updating the workshops. We have a solid foundation and framework, but as our work and responsibilities change, the workshops need to evolve as well.
Second, you will teach at least one component(s) of one of the workshops, either online or in-person, or both.
Third, and most importantly, you will be an integral part of continuing to develop and educate members of our profession. If this has piqued your interest, please submit an application. Deadline for applications is August 15, 2014.
If you have questions, please contact Tina Falkner at rovic001@umn.edu or 612-625-1064.
More details on the workshops:
For workshops offered at meetings not ordinarily attended by faculty members, direct expenses (travel, lodging and per diem) for faculty members may be covered by AACRAO.
In-person Reg 101:
We offer in-person Reg 101 at least three times a year in conjunction with the Annual Meeting, Transfer/Tech Conference and SEM Conference. The workshops are 1½ -2 days long depending on the meeting it’s attached to. The current curriculum for in-person Reg 101 is: Role of the Registrar, FERPA compliance training, Year in the life of a Registrar, Information sources/Advice to New Registrar, Open discussion.
On-line Reg 101:
We offer on-line Reg 101 three times a year (fall, winter and summer). The workshop is four weeks long with each week focusing on a different set of material. Since this is an online workshop, registrants engage with the materials at their own pace. Topics include: Role and Organizational Context of the Registrar, A Year in the Life of the Registrar, Compliance Issues (FERPA, Solomon, etc.), and Information sources.
There is a $300 stipend for each faculty who cover a week of material.
Reg 201:
Reg 201 is currently only offered in person as it’s still in its infancy (we’ve only offered it two times). The workshop is offered in conjunction with the Annual Meeting and the SEM meeting. Current topics include: Institutional Presence, Leadership and Management, Process and Process Improvement, FERPA Beyond the Basics, Technology, and Future issues/wrap up/issue resolution. This workshop is 1½-2 days long.
