This year, AACRAO’s Congressional Hill Day looks a little bit different. This virtual event takes place September 23-24, 2021, and is open to all AACRAO members. This is an opportunity for AACRAO members who may not have been able to attend the in-person event
previously.
AACRAO’s Hill Day is an opportunity for members to engage with congressional offices to discuss your work and share your perspective, as practitioners, on how policy can/would impact the work that you do on a daily basis.
“This is part of AACRAO’s strategic goal of engaging more policy decision-makers and ensuring that they are aware of members’ issues,” said AACRAO Government Relations Director William Gil. “As they get to know more about
these issues, they will make us part of the conversation and look to us as a resource when making decisions about higher education legislation.”
All AACRAO members are invited to apply to participate in this year’s virtual Hill Day. In particular, members from the 36 states represented on the House and Senate education committees are encouraged to participate.
The states included are:
- Alabama
- Alaska
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Florida
- Georgia
- Idaho
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Maryland
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Nevada
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New Mexico
- New York
- North Carolina
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- South Carolina
- Tennesee
- Texas
- Utah
- Vermont

It should be noted that this year’s Hill Day will be smaller than past years and is extremely focused on our ability to maximize the greatest legislative impact.
