This year marks the 25th anniversary of AACRAO’s Strategic Enrollment Management Conference (SEM). Ever since AACRAO established the term with the first SEM Conference in 1990, Strategic Enrollment Management has become integral to enhancing student success at institutions of higher learning. The AACRAO SEM Conference provides the foundation for creating a comprehensive enrollment management plan, boosting enrollment outcomes, and focusing on student success through creative recruitment and retention strategies.
Take Full Advantage of the SEM Conference
On Sunday afternoon of the conference, AACRAO is offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the meeting. Whether this is your first or your 25th SEM Conference, this free workshop is designed to highlight some of the changes to this year’s format and help you understand the concepts around which the conference is designed. The “Making the Most of Your SEM Conference Experience” workshop will be presented by Tom Green, AACRAO Consulting, Mike Reilly, AACRAO, and William Serrata, El Paso Community College.
New Team Programming
With the growing presence of institutional teams at the SEM Conference, this year we are implementing new programming to help SEM teams facilitate and implement SEM planning on their campuses. Bring your colleagues and get a unique SEM Conference experience. The following are included within the team structure:
- SEM Core Concepts and SEM Planning for Institutional Teams Workshop Presented by Susan Gottheil, University of Manitoba and William Serrata, El Paso Community College, this preconference workshop—designed for four or more participants from the same school—will include an overview of the core concepts of SEM and also provide participants with a review of methods to organize planning teams and the process for creating a SEM plan on campus. Workshop attendees will also gain an understanding of the commitments required to effectively manage enrollments on their campuses.
- Faculty Mentor
During the workshop, teams will be assigned and meet their SEM faculty mentor, who will provide guidance and answer questions. The mentor will touch base with their team(s) at the end of Monday and Tuesday.
- SEM Team Reception
Teams will be treated to a hosted reception, sponsored by College Scheduler, LLC, on Tuesday evening. The reception recognizes that success in implementing SEM and achieving enrollment goals depends on campus-wide involvement.
- Taking SEM Home
SEM team participants will have the opportunity to attend a wrap-up session on Wednesday afternoon, which will focus on next steps for the institutional team once they return to campus.
We invite you to join us November 1-4 at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida to continue the conversation about SEM's role on your campus. Registration is open and hotel reservations are being accepted. Check the SEM Conference website for frequent updates.
