The American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) seeks a dynamic, proven leader in Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) to lead its SEM Conference as its director. Following 25 years of increasing success, the AACRAO SEM Conference remains the preeminent meeting in the world on this subject. The next director of the conference must bring top-rank credentials as a leader in the field, demonstrating both knowledge through research and publication, as well as the practical experience that is a hallmark of the SEM Conference.
Reporting to the Associate Executive Director, Consulting and SEM, the SEM Conference Director is responsible for driving member response to create session content, coordinating the SEM advisory group, managing session submissions and working with the AACRAO Meetings and Marketing teams to coordinate the logistics, program and promotion of the Conference.
This is a part-time, stipend position with highly varied hours throughout the year. At some times, there will be routine calls or email. At other times, such as the Conference itself, there will be a high level of engagement and time. This position does require travel, some evenings and weekends, although there is great latitude for scheduling to complete the work required to create and manage a world-class conference.
Applicants are strongly preferred to have successful experience as a national or international conference director, preferably in SEM, and must have significant career experience (at least 15 years) and leadership (at least 10 years) in SEM at a regionally-accredited US college or university or equivalent status outside the US. Knowledge and experience with US higher education is required; similar knowledge of international systems is preferred. A master’s degree is required; doctoral degree preferred. Significant contribution to the field of SEM as an author, researcher, presenter and leader is required.
To apply, send a letter highlighting your qualifications against the position requirements and desired qualities, with a resume, to SEMConferenceDirector@aacrao.org. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled but priority will be placed on those applications received on or before May 31, 2016.
