The United States Department of State’s EducationUSA global educational advising network, in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin–Madison,
hosted a seminar on recruiting and hosting international students. The seminar delved into issues surrounding the internationalization of U.S. campuses. Eight institutions from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin came together to share best practices, learn about U.S. government resources for promoting U.S. colleges and universities to students overseas, and to join in conversation about ways to build.networks for both student recruitment and support.
AACRAO International's Julia Funaki joined a Professional Associations panel to share information about AACRAO's
relevant resources for colleges and universities. She was joined by representatives from NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors), NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and ACE (American Council on Education) representatives. The day included a
presentation on the use of agents by Jennifer Wright, Director of Certification at the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC).
The seminar was the first of a series of regional seminars EducationUSA hopes to host around the country.
