This year, the annual fall conference was held at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, on October 4th-6th. The theme was “Showtime”. In addition to members from Oklahoma colleges and universities, we had guests from Michigan State University, ACT, Parchment, National Clearinghouse, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and more.
Conference highlights
FERPA Quiz Show. During the FERPA Quiz Show session, participants were tested on their knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act using real-life situations, sharing how they would interpret and apply FERPA in realistic scenarios.
Staff Appreciation 101. The session titled, “Dysfunction of “Office Space”: Staff Appreciation 101" offered techniques to increase loyalty and decrease turnover with employees. Presenters made suggestions on getting to know your employees well, in order to determine what would make them feel appreciated.

The Welcome Reception included door prizes won by answering television, movie and music trivia. The conference received great feedback and was well attended.
