Even if you've been to Baltimore--even if you live there--it's a sure bet you haven't experienced everything the city has to offer.
Besides next month's AACRAO Annual Meeting (April 12-15 - register now!), Baltimore has the Inner Harbor, yes; the Orioles (playing the Yankees!), yes, of course -- and a limitless supply of the kinds of unexpected and quirky events and venues that make a city a destination.
Here are at least seven things to do in Baltimore that you may not have considered:
1. Explore the natural world at the Maryland Science Center, the National Aquarium, or Gwynns Fall Trail.
2. Cruise the harbor.
3. Meet the mysterious Mendes Cohen.
4. Make your own video game.
5. Trace the footsteps of Edgar Allen Poe.
6. Check out the local music scene.
7. Visit a fine art museum (or this one), a visionary art museum, or a pop culture museum.
"Baltimore is the perfect destination for our attendees," said Janie Barnett, AACRAO Executive Director. "It has a wonderful and easy to navigate convention center and our hotels are all within walking distance. The convention center has free Wi-Fi in public spaces, excellent meeting space and an outdoor terrace."
"Having the views of the beautiful Baltimore Inner Harbor is an added bonus and it’s only two blocks away!" she added. "There is also a free and green Charm City Circulator and the picturesque Baltimore Water Taxi to make it easy for our attendees to explore the diverse Baltimore neighborhoods. As some of the locals might say... Welcome to Bawlmer, Hon!"
