Just a few weeks from now, dozens of state and regional ACRAO officers from around the country will join AACRAO professional activity committee (PAC) members and the AACRAO Board of Directors for a weekend in Washington, D.C.

The purpose of this annual State and Regional Leadership Meeting, held December 5-7, is twofold:

1) To assist new state and regional officers with the finer details of how to run all-volunteer organizations.

State and regional officers will attend sessions on financial management, legal issues, strategic planning, and volunteer engagement in addition to round table discussions for networking and brainstorming purposes.

2) To provide a program planning forum for the AACRAO PAC Chairs and Board of Directors for the coming year.

These leaders hold positions representative of the wide range of professional areas that membership consists of; from admissions and enrollment management to registrars and institutional researchers.

During the meeting, attendees will discuss areas in which they feel more professional development needs to take place as well as other hot topics in higher education.

They'll consider questions such as:

  • What information and skills do younger members need to advance their careers and the profession as a whole?
  • What management techniques need to be honed for upper-level administrators to make a positive impact at their institutions?
  • What methods of program delivery are best suited for different demographics both within and outside of AACRAO?

The leadership group will initiate significant planning during the meeting to address these types of concerns.

If you are interested in attending the AACRAO Leadership Meeting in the future, there are two ways to get invited – one is to get involved with your state or regional ACRAO, and the other is to get involved with the AACRAO PACs.
