On July 16-20, 2018, AACRAO International will be hosting the annual Summer Institute for International Admissions in Arlington, Virginia.  The week-long training draws in credential evaluation professionals from all across the United States and Canada, all of whom are eager to learn about best practices and how to recognize and process credentials from various countries.

When it comes to deciphering foreign records, there is no single answer or method. In order to offer a more holistic approach to the evaluation of foreign credentials, AACRAO International felt it would be beneficial to offer multiple institutional perspectives on the evaluation of foreign credentials.

New to this year’s program is faculty member Wang Chao, who works as an International and Graduate Examiner at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. More recently, Wang was the recipient of the Connor Scholarship Fund for the 2018 AACRAO Annual Meeting in Orlando.

"No question is too big, no question is too small when searching for the key to decode the transcript," is Wang's advice for beginners. Best practices do not always come from a manual, but can also be learned through professional networks, such as AACRAO EDGE, or on-campus resources, she added.

Wang was born and raised in Taiwan and has lived in the United States since college. She has held positions as an International Student Advisor, International Student, Scholar Services Specialist, and an Immigration Paralegal. Her experiences range from topics such as admission, recruitment, credential evaluation and immigration/academic advising.

Wang will join two other institutional faculty members: Staci Bernhard from Florida International University and Robert Watkins from the University of Texas at Austin. AACRAO International is excited to welcome Wang to the team!
