Summary : If not, that’s OK…you are still eligible to apply to attend the Baden-Württemberg Seminar! (Applications due 6/14.)

The Baden-Württemberg Seminar, or “BW Seminar” as it is affectionately known by alumni of the program, will take place in the lakeshore city of Konstanz this October. The BW Seminar began over 30 years ago as the brainchild of Axel Markert, retired now, but formerly of the University of Tübingen. The seminar invites applicants from AACRAO and NAFSA, and aims to introduce North American colleagues to the educational system of Germany, as well as to establish new relationships between institutions, and nurture existing ones.

While German-language ability is appreciated, it is not required to participate. Rather, the selection committee will be looking to build a diverse group of colleagues. Ideally, the “perfect group” for the BW Seminar would consist of

  • A mix of experience levels, from beginners to seasoned colleagues;

  • Some each of admissions officers, registrars, international student advisers, study abroad officers, and others with responsibility for the many facets of international education;

  • Representation from all types of higher education institutions and all geographic areas of North America.

BW Seminar 2018 - KonstanzThe Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts generously funds this seminar, and covers all program costs, with the exception of travel to and from the seminar location in Germany, and some meals.

If you’ve always wanted to apply for the BW Seminar, make this the year you go for it! Applications are due June 14. Click here for more information.

If you have questions about the BW Seminar, you can ask LesLee Clauson Eicher at ClausonL@aacrao.org.
