Diversify your international student population by capitalizing on scholarship opportunities for both international and study abroad students. This ongoing resource will from AACRAO International will highlight opportunities by focusing on particular regions. First up: The Gulf.

Oman offers several scholarship options for students interested in studying abroad in "brotherly and friendly countries." (The list of approved schools can be found here.) The full scholarships offered cover tuition, living expenses, and travel costs for the students, and partial scholarships cover only tuition and occasionally some of the living costs. With partial scholarships, students’ parents are expected to pay whatever is not covered.

Students who wish to study abroad and do not have any scholarships are still required to consult the Ministry of Higher Education to identify programs and institutions recognized by the Sultanate. They will also need to register with the Ministry of Higher Education through their website. For the 2017-2018 school year, there were 1,643 scholarships granted to students studying abroad, according to the Muscat Daily.

Students can apply for scholarships here. A guide for scholarship requirements and the steps involved in the process can be found here.

And stay tuned for the next edition of Connect, where we will feature scholarship opportunities from Saudi Arabia.
