Amidst the sundrenched beauty of the desert and mountains of Phoenix, AACRAO International hosted the pre-SEM “Intensive Foreign Credentials Evaluation Workshop.” Taught by AACRAO International experts, the workshop brought together over 20 AACRAO colleagues from many states, including Arizona, as well as from points abroad.

The intensive two-day workshop focused on the basic principles of international credential evaluation, learning the major educational system models of the world (you don’t have to learn 200 countries!), and applying these principles to case studies. AACRAO International staff members Ann Koenig and LesLee Clauson Eicher led the group in analyzing credentials from the top-sending countries, with detailed work on documents from China and India. Participants worked together in small groups to hone their research skills using actual academic documents at the secondary and postsecondary levels.

It was an intense two days of learning, collaboration, and fun (Halloween candy may have been involved). AACRAO International offers workshops such as this one at areas around the country.
