For decades, AACRAO has provided industry-leading training and professional development opportunities in the fields of SEM, FERPA, records and retention, admissions and international credential evaluation. Like so many other associations, organizations and institutions, in 2020 AACRAO temporarily paused all of its in-person professional development activities, including meetings, workshops, and trainings, due to the global pandemic.

This pause has allowed the association to reflect on its current programming and delivery mechanisms, and to envision more inclusive opportunities to share knowledge, best practices and guidance outside of AACRAO’s traditional in-person opportunities. In addition, understanding that not all members have the same institutional support for professional development, AACRAO’s goal is to provide training, guidance and best practices in other modalities in addition to in-person programming, once we are able to resume. To this end, AACRAO's new learning management system (LMS) allows the association to provide on-demand virtual training for members and non-members alike, while at the same time providing AACRAO with the ability to deliver blended, VILT (virtual instructor-led training) programming later this year.

AACRAO Online: International Series

AACRAO is excited to announce The International Series, which offers a variety of courses specifically designed to support international admissions officers and international credential evaluation professionals in their continuing professional development. The International Series currently offers two courses on the methodology of international credential evaluation, The Basics and Transfer Credit, and eight additional courses on specific countries or systems. All courses in the series utilize an interactive approach with hands-on exercises providing a real-life evaluation experience through the use of authentic credentials and documents.

AACRAO will continue to offer on-demand professional development programming throughout 2021. Upcoming courses include: FERPA, Records Management, Registrar’s Assessment and Government Compliance topics, including the FERPA and GDPR, Solomon Amendment and the Clearly Act. Join the email list to stay up to date.
