The Chronicle of Higher Education’s article, "‘Better, Not Bigger’: As Private Colleges Hunger for Students, One University Slims Down" focuses on private colleges and their goal to increase enrollment in a time when enrollment numbers are starting to dwindle and how The George Washington University has decided to go the opposite route. Its president Thomas J. LeBlanc has decided to cut its undergraduate student body by 20 percent over the next five years. AACRAO’s Associate Executive Director for Consulting and SEM, Dr. Tom Green, is quoted in the article and shares his sentiments about the changing enrollment environment and how private colleges should prepare for the impending “drop-off” in high-school graduates.
