Assistant Director of Financial Aid Compliance & Training at Oakland University

Michael is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, he currently serves as Associate Director of Financial Aid at Oakland University. Couch’s educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University, a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Western Michigan University, and an Educational Doctorate with an emphasis in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University.

He is an award-winning student affairs professional with a variety of experiences at various colleges and universities (For Profit, Community College, four-year public and private, and Minority Serving institutions). He engages in research, presentations, and critical conversations about college affordability, enrollment management, leadership assessments, leadership experiences of African American males, and minority male initiatives.
