Doug Shapiro, Ph.D., is the Executive Research Director of the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, which advances student success by providing the education community with data and insights from the nation’s largest student-level dataset of college enrollment and degree information. In his work at the Clearinghouse he established over a dozen new reports and benchmarks on student enrollment, persistence, transfer and completion. He also developed research and data services to help high schools, states, postsecondary institutions, and researchers to measure student educational outcomes. 
 
Shapiro has conducted research in higher education at the institution, state and national levels for more than twenty years and has been quoted in national media including The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, NPR, Forbes and The Washington Post. Prior to joining the Clearinghouse, he was Director of Institutional Research at The New School, and Vice President for Research and Policy Development at the Minnesota Private College Council. He has served as a board member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Shapiro holds a Ph.D. in Education, an M.A. in Mathematics, and a B.A. in History. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
