New Survey Open Focused on Undergraduate Admissions

Higher education professionals in admissions are invited to take part in a brief survey that aims to understand unique perspectives and experiences regarding criminal and disciplinary questions in undergraduate admissions. Anonymous participation in this research will provide valuable information to the field of higher education.

This study aims to understand the perspectives and experiences of higher education leaders involved in undergraduate admissions decisions, particularly their opinions regarding criminal and disciplinary history questions in undergraduate admissions. Participation in this research is anonymous and will provide valuable information to the field of higher education. Findings from this study will be reported in a manuscript that will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The deadline to complete the survey will be August 15, 2021. This is an IRB-approved study (IRB# 00139773).

The Principal Investigator for this study is Dr. Caisa Royer, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Utah. Lead Investigators include Estefanie Aguilar Padilla, Graduate Research Assistant, Kino Hurtado, Graduate Research Assistant, Dr. Erin Castro, Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Utah, and Jasiel Ramirez, SPUR Undergraduate Research Intern.

The survey takes approximately 10-20 minutes to complete, depending on the relevant questions present on the participant institution's undergraduate admission application. Upon completion, participants will have the option to enter into a drawing to win one (1) of four (4) $50 Visa gift cards.
