ACT releases new report on the college choice process

Summary :

Twenty-four percent of ACT-tested students reported they preferred to attend college out of state, according to data from ACT. So... did they? Or did they remain in state?

How faithful are students to their reported intentions?

Last year, ACT released the Enrollment Management Trends Report which discussed key trends related to ACT tested students and their subsequent transition into Higher Education.

This year, they have taken it a step further by splitting the report into two pieces “ which include:

College Choice Report Part 1: Preferences & Prospects --- a review of the ACT-tested grad class and their ability related to their preferences as captured on the ACT.

College Choice Report Part 2: Enrollment Patterns ---- using the National Student Clearinghouse data to look at the trends of where students actually enrolled.

Part 1 was released at the AACRAO Annual Meeting, recently held in San Francisco, and Part 2 will once again be released at ACT™s Enrollment Planners Conference in July in Chicago. This change came about because admissions people wanted MORE information and also wanted to look at state level reports that would allow users to compare states to other similar states and potentially even regions. To view Part 1 of the report, click here.

Part 2 gives admissions professionals the opportunity to interact at a state, regional, and national level with the data from this report. Although it won't be completed until July, you can access the beta version of the report here.
