With increased student mobility comes a greater demand for our community to come together to support each other in the often complex and varied world of transfer. In response to this demand, AACRAO's Transfer & Articulation committee is hosting an
open community of practice call where any member of the AACRAO community can engage to discuss current issues or trends related to transfer credit, PLA, or articulation. This is an open call to participate, whether you are new to transfer credit or a seasoned veteran. We welcome anyone interested in this topic area to help provide answers to questions membership has on their minds or discuss hot topics that are impacting
our campuses today.
April Session
Session Title: Best Practices for Accepting Alternative Credit Providers in Transfer Articulation
Description: As alternative credit providers like Study.com, Sophia Learning, and StraighterLine continue to expand transfer opportunities for students, institutions are developing policies and evaluation processes to ensure these credits align with academic standards. This Community of Practice session brings together experts from different institutions to share their approaches to policy development, credit evaluation, transferability restrictions, and advising strategies. Presenters will discuss how their institutions determine acceptance criteria, the role of ACE recommendations in evaluating courses, where these credits can be applied (General Education, Electives, or Core Program), and how advisors guide students in making informed decisions. Join us for an insightful discussion on best practices, challenges, and innovative solutions in transfer articulation!
