Crises as Catalysts for Collaboration: How Cambridge International and Cambridge English are Partnering to Meet a Global Challenge

November 30, 2021

Free Webinar | 1:00-2:00 pm ET

The COVID-19 pandemic has helped expose weaknesses—and strengths—of the systems we rely on in the modern world, including in the realm of education assessment. As a worldwide, not-for-profit education organization, Cambridge Assessment, a part of the University of Cambridge, provides world-class qualifications, and education programmes that give learners the confidence to demonstrate and fulfil their potential. Cambridge International and Cambridge English, departments of Cambridge Assessment, are partnering in North America to provide colleges and universities with information on students who take our exams and resources.

In the last year Cambridge Assessment has launched several projects to support higher education in North America and our Cambridge schools. As COVID has limited our ability to meet with colleges and universities in person, the need to expand services to U.S. higher education electronically has increased. Our collaboration has resulted in full inclusion in the Common Application and Coalition Applications; launching of an online transcript service for North American higher education; and new webpages for U.S. colleges and universities. Cambridge English Qualifications for higher education are the longest and most rigorous English proficiency examinations in the world.  Unlike other exams, they are not offered on demand.  Rather, are designed to be incorporated into English curricula at public and private schools around the world, confirming learning outcomes of English courses.

There are millions of students eligible to apply to higher education in North America, studying at one of thousands of schools around the world.  These certifications don’t expire and as such are akin to certifications such as A-Levels.  By leaning into our strengths—a global network, robust curriculum, and deep assessment expertise—Cambridge Assessment has developed new strategies to support our students and schools. Join us to learn how Cambridge International and Cambridge English are meeting the challenges of COVID-19 with new innovative policies, data, and services for US colleges and universities.
