Presenter: Karen Miller, Vice President of Institutional Research and Enrollment Management, Cuyahoga Community College
Dr. Karen Miller has been with Cuyahoga Community College since 1998, and has served in a number of positions that have made a positive impact on the students and their academic experiences. Dr. Miller currently serves as our Vice President of Institutional Research and Enrollment Management, overseeing recruitment, enrollment, retention and completion initiatives for the College. She also manages our Evidence and Inquiry department, leading initiatives such as the Community College Survey of Student Engagement, IPEDS relationship and research, and data requests from throughout the College. Additionally, in August of 2016, she was appointed as interim Provost and Executive Vice President, Access, Learning and Success.
Prior to Dr. Miller’s arrival at Cuyahoga Community College, she worked at both Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio in various roles within Student Affairs. Karen has a Ph.D. from The University of Toledo in Higher Education, and also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Education and a Master of Science Degree in Technical Education with a specialization in Guidance & Counseling from The University of Akron.
Presenter: Tom Green, Associate Executive Director, Consulting and SEM, AACRAO
Dr. Tom Green brings over 30 years of SEM experience and expertise to AACRAO Consulting. He served as dean or vice president of enrollment management at a number of private and public institutions. Dr. Green led admissions, financial aid, registrar, student accounts, academic advising and support, adult re-entry services and one-stop shop areas, twice serving as director of financial aid. His expertise in SEM planning, recruitment techniques, enrollment marketing and communications, financial aid analysis and resource utilization and student success techniques resulted in enrollment increases, improvements in student profile and retention rates, as well as net revenue.
In 2006, Dr. Green joined AACRAO Consulting and since 2008 has devoted his career full-time to helping institutions reach their enrollment goals. Tom Green holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, a master’s degree from the American Conservatory of Music, where he later began his academic career as a faculty member in music performance, and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership, management and policy from Seton Hall University. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of SEM Quarterly, AACRAO’s peer-reviewed journal of research and practice in the field.
