Join AACRAO and the Institute for International Education for a live webinar that will highlight both domestic and global initiatives supporting inclusion and access to higher education. We will identify issues in higher education faced by displaced persons through real student experiences, and learn about AACRAO’s partnership with UC Davis on the Article 26 Backpack™ as well as other solutions implemented by institutions and student-led movements that support the institution and the larger community.

Presenter: Annetta Stroud, Associate Director for Training and Program Development, AACRAO International 


Annetta StroudAnnetta Stroud began working with AACRAO in 2008 in the role of Senior Evaluator and Training Coordinator, and is currently the Associate Director for Training and Program Development. She has worked in the field of international education for over 17 years in various positions in international admissions and credential evaluation, student services, and academic management at both public and private institutions. Her current role with AACRAO allows her to engage in international comparative education research and to support the training of professionals in the field.







Presenter: Katherine Miller, Global Education in Emergencies Specialist, Institute of International Education


Katherine MillerKatherine Miller is the Global Education in Emergencies Specialist for the Institute of International Education’s PEER (Platform for Education in Emergencies Response) program.  With a background in clinical social work with a focus on trauma therapy for refugees and unaccompanied minors, Katherine has worked extensively with refugee communities in the United States.  Prior to this work Katherine helped spearhead the launch of a battered women’s shelter in Nicaragua while also helping to identify secondary-level education system improvements with community leaders and school officials throughout the region.




Moderator: Melanie Gottlieb, Deputy Director, AACRAO

Melanie GottliebMelanie Gottlieb joined the staff as Deputy Director of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) in 2015. She came to the national office with 18 years as an AACRAO member, with experience in Records & Registration, Enrollment Management and International Recruitment and Credential Evaluation in a variety of colleges and universities across the U.S.  She has served the association and her profession in a variety of local and national leadership roles throughout her career, given numerous presentations and workshops in both small and large settings, participated in a variety of publications, and most recently served as Vice President for International Education on the AACRAO Board of Directors.  In her current role at AACRAO, Melanie leads international initiatives and marketing and communications for the association.  She earned an MA in Information Science from the University of Missouri - Columbia and a BA in History /American Studies from Marlboro College in Vermont.
