Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and several other school boards in the Greater Toronto Area have decided to not hold final exams for high school students this year because of Covid-19 pandemic. No final exams for quadmester 1 and 2 classes and a decision has not been made yet for quadmester 3 and 4 classes.

Edmonton Public School Board agreed unanimously to suspend diploma exams for high school students in the 2020-21 academic year. Students in Grade 12 facing diploma exams in October and November can choose not to write them.

Majority are of the firm opinion that physical presence is essential for one to receive a good education – be it in university or in school. Minister of Education Krassimir Valchev explained at a briefing how the new school year will begin. For now, the school year is planned to begin in person throughout the country. However, the Minister does not rule out the possibility of changes.

Students at Flemish secondary schools will have colonialism as part of their standard curriculum. The history syllabus will include imperialism, colonialism and neo-colonialism and decolonisation. This is the first time these topics will be include in class and examinations.
