The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has introduced "Turkish" and "mathematics" courses for the 6th grades of secondary school and "Turkish language and literature" courses for the 9th grades of high schools for the first time this year, in order to follow the development of students, to ensure integrity among schools in the processing of the curriculum and to create unity of practice. It was decided to organize the second written exams of "mathematics" and "mathematics" courses as "common exams across the country".

In this context, the first joint exams across the country will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 for 6th grade Turkish language and mathematics courses, and on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 for 9th grade Turkish language and literature and mathematics courses. The questions prepared by the Ministry will be delivered to the schools and the exam will be held by the school. Exam documents will be evaluated by provincial measurement and evaluation centers.

With the Measurement and Evaluation Regulation published in the Official Gazette, new principles regarding measurement and evaluation practices in schools from pre-school to 12th grade were introduced.

In this context, it was announced that 3 different common written exams would be held in secondary and high schools: "countrywide", "province and districtwide" and "schoolwide".

The Ministry sent an official letter to the provinces containing the decision on which levels, in which courses and on which date the joint written exams to be held throughout the country will be held.

In the article, regarding the common exams, "2023-2024 academic year 1st term 2nd written exams will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 for 6th grade Turkish language and mathematics courses, on Wednesday, 27 December 2023 for 9th grade Turkish language and literature and mathematics courses. "The day will be held jointly throughout the country." The expression was used.

"IT WILL BE LIKE OTHER WRITTEN EXAMS HELD IN SCHOOLS IN TERMS OF DIFFICULTY AND SCOPE"
Kemal Bülbül, General Manager of Measurement, Evaluation and Examination Services, made statements about the transition to the common examination practice.

According to General Manager Bülbül's statements, no new exam practice will be introduced with common exams.

Joint written exams to be held across the country or province and district will be like other written exams held in schools in terms of difficulty and scope and will be used to evaluate students.

Make-up evaluations will be made during the course for the subjects and achievements that are incompletely learned. However, practices such as ranking students and comparing schools in both country-wide and provincial and district-wide common exams will be avoided.

The main aim will be to ensure unity in the implementation of the educational curriculum and to enable students to be evaluated with valid and reliable measurement tools. Student collective lists will not be published according to the results of common country, province or district exams. Comparative data between schools will not be available.

EXCUSE EXAM WILL BE HELD FOR STUDENTS WHO CANNOT PARTICIPATE

Make-up exams will be held for students who cannot attend the common exams. Make-up exam dates for country-wide, provincial and district-wide common written exams will be announced separately by the national education directorates and will be entered in e-School by school principals.

Joint exams will be conducted by measurement and evaluation centers. The application will be done by teachers at school. Joint exams will consist of questions that measure achievements according to measurement and evaluation principles.
