The next school year comes with a novelty in the classroom: the General Baccalaureate. The progressive application of the LOMLOE approved by the Government of Sánchez in 2020 thus introduces a significant novelty this year. In the absence of more specific guidelines from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry has selected a series of centers that would be prepared to host this General Baccalaureate on an experimental basis in the first year of this level. This General Baccalaureate is designed for those students who are not clear about the path they wish to follow in their education, thus allowing them not to specialize. Most of the centers that have been selected are those that have a significant number of students and diverse teaching staff capable of meeting the demand. The BOJA published the list of authorized centers at the end of June. However, sources from the Ministry of Education report that of this list, only two of the centers have finally obtained permission to teach the General Baccalaureate in the 2022/2023 academic year. The only two centers in the province of Cádiz that have obtained the definitive approval of the Junta de Andalucía to implement the General Baccalaureate in their classrooms are the IES Padre Luis Coloma in Jerez and the IES Juan Sebastián El Cano in Sanlúcar. These institutes are those that have met the requirement of having a group of 15 students.
