In an effort to improve education in the region, the Ministry of Education has made a historic investment of more than 173 billion pesos in educational infrastructure in the eight departments of the Colombian Caribbean.

Over the past two years, a total of 200 projects have been delivered, built or intervened through the Educational Infrastructure Financing Fund (FFIE), benefiting 88,097 students.

The investment of 125,036 million pesos has thus enabled the construction and expansion of 12 new schools, with more than 34,600 square meters of educational spaces suitable for 9,280 students. These new educational centers include 250 classrooms, laboratories, dining rooms and recreational areas, which offer a comprehensive and modern learning environment.

In addition, 188 educational facilities have been improved, with an investment of 48.041 million pesos, which has benefited 78,817 students, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas. These improvements include the intervention of 527 classrooms, 35 kitchens and 388 bathrooms, providing decent conditions for education.

The progress and transformation by department can be seen as follows:

  • In Atlántico, 27 schools have been delivered with an investment of 32.202 million pesos, benefiting 5,477 students.
  • In Bolívar, 39 schools have been completed with 50.207 million pesos invested, reaching 14,489 students.
  • In Cesar, 19 schools have been improved with an investment of 3.39 billion pesos, benefiting 6,764 students.
  • Córdoba has received 38 schools, thanks to an investment of 17.759 million pesos, which has benefited 12,717 students.
  • In La Guajira, 11 schools have been renovated with an investment of 2.34 billion pesos, which has benefited 3,996 students.
  • Magdalena has received 23 schools, with 32.332 million pesos invested, benefiting 14,087 students.
  • San Andrés has seen the completion of six schools, with an investment of 28,046 million pesos, reaching 3,477 students.
  • In Sucre, 37 schools have been improved with an investment of 6.8 billion pesos, which has benefited 7,820 students.

With these actions, the Government of Change in the Colombian Caribbean seeks to guarantee decent and quality spaces that promote the learning of children and young people, also contributing to the development of the region. The Ministry of Education reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of educational infrastructure, making education a fundamental pillar for the future of the country.
