Recently, preference has declined due to infringement of teaching authority, etc. It seems like there are a lot of test takers in the expectation of passing.
The competition rate for college admissions for the 2025 academic year at 10 educational universities nationwide has been the highest in the last five years.
According to Jongno Academy on the 22nd, the competition rate for admission to the 2025 school year of 10 shifts was 5.95 to 1.
This is the highest competition rate since the 2021 school year. Prior to the 2021-2025 school year, the 2022 competition rate (5.82 to 1) was the highest.
The increase in the competition rate for 10 shifts nationwide is due to the increase in the number of applicants than the number of recruits.
The total number of applicants for early admission was 13,470, which was also the highest in five years. It increased 18.7 percent from the previous year (11,348). On the other hand, the number of occasional recruits increased only 0.7% from 2,247 to 2,263.
By school, the number of applicants for Gyeongin National University of Education increased 46.7% from 1,782 the previous year to 2,614 this time.
As a result, the competition rate rose from 4.58 to 1 to 6.52 to 1. Gyeongin National University of Education's competition rate is the highest in the last five years.
The number of applicants for Seoul National University of Education increased 24.4% from 673 to 837 during the same period. The competition ratio increased from 3.64 to 1 to 4.52 to 1.
Including these two shifts, ▲ Cheongju National University of Education 6.35 to 1 → 7.88 to 1 ▲ Daegu National University of Education 4.99 to 1 → 6.49 to 1 ▲ Gongju National University of Education 5.62 to 1 → 5.75 to 1 ▲ Gwangju National University of Education 4.09 to 1 → 5.53 to 1 ▲ Jeonju National University of Education 3.53 to 1 → 4.81 to 1.
On the other hand, the competition rate of the three shifts, Busan National University of Education (6.76: 1 → 6.57: 1), Chuncheon National University of Education (5.77: 1 → 5.67: 1), and Jinju National University of Education (4.93: 1 → 4.85: 1), fell slightly.
The number of applicants for two shifts in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul National University of Education and Gyeongin National University of Education, increased 40.6% from 2,455 to 3,451.
The number of applicants for the remaining eight shifts in the non-metropolitan area increased 12.7% from 8,893 to 10,19.
The competition rate with three elementary education departments - Ewha Womans University, Korea National University of Education, and Jeju National University - rose slightly from 5.91 to 5.94 to 1.
Jongno Academy analyzed that the increase in the number of applicants for occasional shifts and the rise in competition rates reflect expectations that the passing line will fall as the preference for shifts has fallen due to recent infringement of school rights and a decrease in the number of school-aged people.
Jongno Academy said, "We are interested in how many students who passed the exam twice with other schools will leave and fail to meet the minimum academic standards for the College Scholastic Ability Test," but predicted, "The number of students who will not fill the exam will decrease from last year due to the easing of the minimum academic standards for the college entrance exam."
In the 2024 school year held last year, the percentage of non-supplied students for 10 shifts nationwide was 32.7%.
