Egypt's Minister of Education and Technical Education Shawky announced that students will not be allowed to mix SAT and the new Egyptian Scholastic Test (EST) exam results to choose the highest score in each subject.
Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky announced, on Wednesday, that students will not be allowed to mix SAT and Egyptian Scholastic Test (EST) exam results to choose the highest score in each subject.
Shawky also said that due to the differences in EST and SAT exam methods, it is not permissible to combine them to choose the highest grades.
The EST exams are the Egyptian equivalent to the SAT examinations, an international test used for university admissions, which can be taken by students in Egypt’s American Diploma education system.
The EST was designed and put in place after the US-based College Board, which sets SAT exams, announced their suspension in Egypt until June 2021 due to “test security issues”. This means that students who were looking to enrol at university this year would have to wait until next year to sit the exams.
