The new model of Evaluation of the Baccalaureate for University Access , better known as EBAU or selectivity , which the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) had proposed to launch in the 2026-2027 academic year, will be extended for another year .
This was announced by Minister Pilar Alegría herself at the recent Education Sector Conference, according to a statement from the MEFP, in which it was explained that this expansion aims to "guarantee a transition to the new model with greater guarantees, with greater security and with more time". Likewise, the minister has indicated her commitment that students and their families know the details of the new model at the beginning of the next academic year "to give them peace of mind".
The MEFP has announced that Alegría and the autonomous communities have agreed at the last meeting of the Academic Organization Commission that the final phase of the new EBAU model with more competence will become a reality until the 2027-2028 academic year , although some changes in the test format will be presented beforehand to the transition years
Although these modifications have not been detailed, the Ministry has ensured that the system of exercises associated with subjects will be maintained during the transitional phaseof the new EBAU, but that they will "progressively adopt a competence format".
On the other hand, the proposal to focus the access phase of the new selectivity on two tests or exercises is maintained:
A general test to assess the key skills acquired at the end of the Baccalaureate and academic maturity (which replaces the current Spanish, foreign and co-official language tests).
An exercise on a specific compulsory subject of the 2nd year of Baccalaureate , according to the modality studied.
However, the weight of each of the aforementioned tests in the final grade is modified : the initial proposal of the new EBAU was that the new exercise to assess key competencies and academic maturity would have a weight of 75%, but now it will happen to have 60%. For its part, the new specific exercise on a subject according to the Baccalaureate modality will no longer count only 25% of the final grade, but 40% .
Finally, the MEFP has announced that the different agents that are developing the new selectivity have chosen not to close yet issues such as the number of questions for each exercise, number of texts or times for each test, since they will be defined after the pilot tests that will be carried out in the first semester of 2023.
So next year the selectivity will be similar to what is already being carried out , and in 2024 competency tests will be included gradually , according to the MEFP.
In his intervention at the Education Sector Conference, Alegría highlighted the "broad process of participation and dialogue" in the design of the new EBAU, given that it has held various meetings with the autonomous communities, the Ministry of Universities, the CRUE, experts in evaluation and in the different subjects, to prepare it.
