The Department of Education in Punjab is considering reopening schools in the state for students of classes 9 to 12 for only three hours a day.
After the Ministry of Home Affairs released the guidelines for Unlock 5 and reopening of schools, the Department of Education in Punjab is considering reopening the schools in the state for students of classes 9 to 12 for only three hours a day.
As per media reports, the Punjab Secretary of School Education has written to the state’s additional chief secretary (home affairs & justice) recommending that the schools in the state be reopened for students of classes 9 to 12.
It is speculated that the final decision regarding the reopening of schools in the state of Punjab will be announced soon after a call is made by the chief minister of the state, Captain Amarinder Singh, after a Covid-19 review meeting.
It has also been proposed by the education department that the classes be conducted in two shifts to avoid overcrowding. The reopening of schools in the state will be done as per the SOPs issued by the department of health.
